Pennzoil-Quaker State
After Shell's acquisition of Pennzoil-Quaker State in October 2002, we were challenged with the task of archiving all PQS Europe's legacy back office applications into a Data Warehouse. Having already deployed Roundhouse's Data Discovery tool set to strengthen the UK company's MIS toolset used in conjunction with the Sage Premier back office suite, we embarked upon a proof of concept project with Roundhouse to determine if the back office applications from France, Belgium and Spain could be warehoused using Data Discovery with a SQL Server database.

Having proved that the warehouse would function with Data Discovery the European project was completed to budget and cost with the database being deployed in Houston, USA and client users in place across Europe. Such was the success of the European project we have been given the go-ahead to work with all PQS countries outside the USA to bring their applications into the Data Warehouse. Roundhouse also developed the second phase of the project covering 12 countries including Canada, Australia and Argentina plus other countries from the Far East and Latin American regions.

Having worked closely with Roundhouse for the past 4 years, we have found that Roundhouse have a refreshing approach to business, being both professional and efficient in the accomplishment of their tasks whilst being friendly and helpful to our business and technical staff.

Broadland Wineries Limited
"The professional manner in which Roundhouse Software approached the Company's system requirements ensured that the project was fully specified and closely monitored throughout the period of the project to meet our objectives. The use of the SQL database to import from and export to Sage Line 200 enabled us to produce enhanced printed documentation that met all of the required criteria. Not only was the project completed before the expected date but also within the agreed budgeted cost. The system provided by Roundhouse Software is extremely user friendly and has tremendous reporting and direct faxing facilities which greatly enhances our communication both with internal and external customers."

Borromei Bank Research Project
"We approached Roundhouse in 2001 with a seemingly impossible task, challenging them to write a program that would allow us to computerise the ledgers of a fifteenth-century Italian bank, Filippo Borromei & co., of Bruges and London, 1436-39. The ledgers were kept in double entry book-keeping and in the international money of account, the old pounds shillings and pence. We wanted to be able to produce both a full record of each client's transactions, calculate profits and losses for the bank and its clients, track international exchange rates, examine trade flows - in fact ask of these medieval records anything a modern company would hope to learn from its own accounts. A tall order? Not for Roundhouse, who have produced a 'first', a modern accounting package for medieval banking accounts. 'Roundhouse Historic Accounts' has aroused great interest amongst medieval scholars both here in Britain, in Europe, and in the U.S.A. Roundhouse's approach was wholly supportive, their back- up impeccable, and this all within a very tight budget. We are now working towards issuing the ledgers in the form of 'electronic books'. Roundhouse will be writing the software for this part of the project too."
